During the first three months of COVID isolation in the Bay Area, three artists—one in Berkeley, one in Napa Valley, and the other in San Francisco—found connection and creativity through a weekly Zoom ritual. In real-time, they collaborated, played, and supported one another, using art to navigate the mental health challenges of the pandemic. Though miles apart, they discovered solidarity in their shared experience. Each session was documented and edited into this submission for the Diaspora in the Domicile theatre festival.
In this short performance, a repeated verbal and physical phrase serves as the foundation for improvising new characters, each instantly shaped by the audience's reactions in real time using red-nose techniques. Through fixed-point movement, the performer crafts a dynamic, interactive journey, drawing the audience into a playful rhythm. This inventive approach to improvisation offers something fresh and captivating, showcasing the art of spontaneous character creation in a truly special way.
